24/7 Carbon-Free Energy (CFE) Compact is a multi-stakeholder Energy Compact coordinated by Sustainable Energy for All on behalf of UN-Energy, and includes a growing list of signatories from companies, organizations, and governments around the world. This Compact is an ambitious global effort to accelerate the decarbonization of the world’s electricity systems to mitigate climate change and ensure access to clean and affordable electricity for all, in line with SDG7.
As climate challenges intensify, the urgency to transition to carbon-free energy sources grows. This means meeting every kilowatt-hour of electricity demand with Carbon-Free Energy sources, every hour, every day, everywhere. As of January 2025, the 24/7 CFE Compact has over 160 signatories who support the principles of 24/7 CFE as outlined in the Compact and have pledged to take steps to enable them.
As part of this movement, the newly released 24/7 CFE Guidebook serves as a key resource to establish a shared understanding of the 24/7 Carbon-Free Energy (CFE) Compact principles and introduce key enablers to the movement. Developed through extensive collaboration with industry leaders, policymakers, and energy experts, the guidebook provides a structured framework for stakeholders to adopt 24/7 CFE principles. It further provides an illustrative path to plan your journey and highlights interlinkages in enabling a just and inclusive energy transition.
